Home Away From Home is a research-led editorial project exploring the meaning of home through the experiences of people who have been forcibly displaced.

The outcome is a collection of postcards featuring the stories of people who can no longer return to their homes, accompanied by reflective prompts that invite readers to consider their own definition of home. Housed in a portable envelope, the set suggests that home is not only a place, but something we carry with us through memory, belonging, and the connections we create.

PROCESS

To explore and inform the topic, I have conducted research through interviews with individuals who were forcefully displaced from the places they once called home.

Each card features a photograph that evokes a sense of home for that individual. On the reverse, a reflective question inspired by the participant's story invites the viewer to connect with and reflect on the experience themselves.
